My entry for the Big Spaceship's 2011 holiday card. I wanted to make something which was the exact opposite of an ordinary holiday card and came up with the idea for the deadliest winter. I ended up creating six illustrations, each representing a different winter-y horror movie. Guess all six and I'll think about sending you a prize ;)

I was asked by The Mill to participate in a project called Posterity. They were looking to curate a series of posters for 50/50 in order to raise funding to put an end to the famine in Africa. I wanted to stay away from some of the more obvious solutions, and decided instead to experiment with a more colorful, light-hearted typographic approach.

Wrigley came to us asking for help in promoting a new flavor for Lifesavers Gummies. The idea was that there would be a vote which would engage users, allowing them to choose the new flavor first hand. We decided to tell a story within the wrapper of a Gummie reality TV show. I was asked to concept and create twelve distinct scenes which would feature three potential Gummie flavors competing for the chance to join the classic flavors of the pack.

Adobe approached us to build a unique online resource to showcase some of the most innovative aspects of HTML5 and CSS3. What followed was "The Expressive Web", a visually appealing destination which served as a space for users to interact with and learn more about the new features available in HTML5. Visually, we wanted to call out the fact that these new features were essentially the building blocks of the web. For this reason, we decided on a voxel / unit based design direction.

Mightier Than Sword records came to us in search of some album art for an upcoming release. The band, called Follower (at the time), wanted something gritty. Something which showed they weren't afraid to start from the bottom, get their hands dirty and work their way up. They also wanted to satirize and mock the name a bit, showing that they weren't afraid to go against the herd, so to speak. After a quick brainstorm session, we decided to play on the idea of plurals. Using "schools of fish" as our inspiration, we grabbed some rotting fish heads from Chinatown and went to town.

Big Bang is an interactive installation that shows off Big Spaceship's projects and celebrates the company's culture over the course of their ten year history. Walk past the screen and a parade of visual elements follows behind you. Each one represents a project, person, or event corresponding to a specific year in the company timeline. The landscape evolves gradually to reflect each year with new environments and animations. Originally, Big Bang was meant to be a stop-motion piece. It grew into an interactive installation, blending tangible animation with a variety of other styles including 3D and illustration.
